Be sure your wicks do not contain zinc or lead. Even though lead wicks are not approved for use in the US some imported candles may slip through. I also wouldn’t use candles containing paraffin wax since it is a petroleum based product that can release fumes similar to car exhaust – not good!

I have heard from people who own birds that they have safely used Mia Bella’s candles around their birds. They are made with vegetable wax and use 100% cotton wicks.
