That’s what a FF does, it holds data. In a simple SR (or RS) FF, you pulse the set input, that sets the FF, from a 0 to a 1. The data will be held until you toggle the reset input, which resets it to a 0.
another type of FF, a D-type, the voltage on the D line, whether 0 or 1, is written into the FF on the rising edge of the K, clock, signal. These usually have a reset signal, to set the data back to 0.
