What drums should I get?
hey, i was thinkin about getting an SJC kit after reading so many good reviews on them and listening to their great sound.
now, the only problem that i’m encountering is choosing the finish.
do you think that an “ice” wrap would look cool, or would it be lame? I don’t really wanna get into acrylic drums because they just don’t feel right for me and they are way out of my price reach. (no offence to acrylic drummers out there).
If there is an SJC finish that you think is cool or you would like to have, then just send me the name of it so I can check it out and hopefully make an informed decision before i spend $4000 on what are probably gonna be the last drums I buy in my life.

I like my setup to be lik the following:

22″x24″ bass drum
12″x10″ rack tom
16″x16″ floor
18″x18″ floor
14″x6.5″ or 6″ snare

That’s a good setup dude. But make sure that you REALLY want a 6.5 ” snare or even the 5″ Try the 4″ standard and compare because the thicker the snare, the less crispy iit is. You should get 2 toms by adding a 12 or 13″.
As for the make, I would suggest Mapex as one of the best since it is all wood made. Ludwig is still one of the best with Mapex. Tama is also a good set. My drummer has a Mapex in the studio and a Tama but with a Premier snare. Awesome sound. but he uses DW stands and bass pedal. He says they are the strongest in hardware.
As for the cymbals, that is another thing you need to look into. Get 14″ hi-hat, a crash, a ride, etc..
